Creative Pallet-Cleanse (New Scratchbuild Spaceship)

I've got a lot of creative energy recently, but I've stalled out on each of my projects.

A creative pallet-cleansing should help me refocus my hobby-brain. And that means going back to my old favorite and making a spaceship.

Back to my old techniques: pasta for the master shape, impression molding, then dental plaster casting.

I'll clean it up with files tomorrow, then plan to add some extra details/fix air bubble blemishes with epoxy putty. The ultimate goal is to get back to pewter drop-casting.

  1. Once again, very nice! Lately, working on hobby activities is a much needed stress release.

    1. Thanks Chris!

Agreed, hobby-time is a great stress reliever, especially with the current state of the world.

Not finishing all my other projects, with new techniques, was adding more stress though, so I had to retreat to my comfort zone of spaceship minis. I'm glad I did; I forgot how much fun it is!

  2. Very nicely done! :) I keep thinking about scratchbuilding space ships to complement long dead ranges, or maybe experiment with my own variations on a theme by Lucas. Nice to see someone actually doing it. Bravo!

    1. Thank you!

Spaceships have always been a passion of mine, so they were the first things I ever tried to scratchbuild. It’s a lot of fun… give it a try!

    2. Will do! It's closely related to things I've scratchbuilt in the past, so I'm sure it will be fun. :)
